Simply Hawt IDLIS!

They are simple and delicious.They are white and soft.Idli-sambar is one of those vegetarian dishes which is so irresistable. Idlis can be eaten for breakfast,lunch,evening snack and dinner.It is universally accepted and liked by all as ideal breakfast in India and abroad.

Why idles?

  • Availability : It is available in every vegetarian hotel and restaurant,and in all metropolitan cities in India.
  • Cost efficiency : Idlies are cheaper and economical.The price ranges from Rs.5 – Rs 150.
  • Healthy : Idlies contain no oil and no fat.It has medium calorie content(of 60 calories) and is cholestrol free.It can be eaten by all(young and old).Suggestive for people who do a lot of traveling.
  • Variety : There are many variations of Idlies available.Rava idly,button idly being the popular ones.For non-vegatarians try teaming hot idlies with chicken/mutton curry.This makes for an ideal sunday brunch.
  • Hotness quotient : Idlis are always served hot with coconut chutney and hot drumstick/onion sambar.They just melt in your mouth like butter.Yummy!
  • Simplicity : They are simple to prepare and delicious.Simplidly is the word.

Preparation:Idlies are easy to prepare .The procedure involves grinding idli rice and black gram together followed by fermentation for 10-12 hours.The dough is then steamed in a idli cooker or closed vessel for it to become soft and spongy.Allow a couple of minutes to go.Now hot and soft idlies are ready.

Some get high by drinking,some by thinking but i get high by eating idlis :) :p …My love for idlis is eternal and hence this post…

i simple LOVE idlis… yummy and due to this love i could sustain in karnataka when i was doing my MBBS (other north indian friends had a tough time since they didnt have palate for south indian food!)

I have started have “pani” in my mouth, i think i will have to go to a restaurant today to have idlis for lunch!! :D

idli rocks ! i esp like d why idli part :) hey u know it seems in mumbai a plate of idly is 25 bucks in a normal hotel ! i cannot imagine that ! phew :)

Idli used to be my fav as a kid. Unfortunately when i met wit an accident, i was made to eat idli for 2 wks :( so I don eat it often now :) But Bhav u get high by eating idlis? seriously ? :P u eat “Rum Idlis”? :P

You bet !! I can eat them on every single day only if somebody can serve them hot to me :D
